WHY ARE "CLEAN & FAIR" ELECTIONS IMPORTANT?
"What is it worth to have the confidence and participation of the voters? Why is voter turnout so poor? In my opinion, it is the feeling that one’s vote doesn’t matter. The politicians are going to do whatever they want anyway. Why would we expect voters to be interested in participating in the political process? The short-term effect may be political gain for a few, but the long-term effect is disinterest and distrust in the political system, which invites Tyranny."
